Ed Stone. Founder, Entrepreneur, Fractional CTO.

Born and raised in London, UK, my first experience of programming was writing text adventure games in Basic on a BBC Master. I moved away from computing to study English Language and Literature at college, but rediscovered computers and the joy of web development whilst on a working holiday in Sydney, Australia - learning on the job whilst building websites for a couple of oddly named (and awesome) companies. I got a visa and stayed for 3 years.

Back in the UK I continued to work as a web developer, including for 3 years at Yahoo! (back when they were a tech giant), helping to grow the European Front-end Engineering team from 5 engineers to over 40 and leading the front-end development of the first iteration of Yahoo! Maps.

Following Yahoo!, I embraced the Silicon Roundabout scene, including time as Project Director at another oddly named Australian company; Head of Technology at a digital agency specializing in FinTech UX; and as a Technical Architect at a digital design consultancy building rapid prototypes for startups and internal innovation groups at enterprise companies.

Following my move to Vancouver (with my Canadian wife), I continued to freelance for various UK companies for a few years before striking out to found my own development agency, Autotelic, in 2016.

In 2022 we launched Jig, a 100% bootstrapped e-commerce platform for alternative food networks.
